Cecilia Rosales, M.D., M.S.

Arizona Member

Cecilia Rosales, M.D., M.S.In 2005, Dr. Cecilia Rosales joined the University of Arizona (UoA) as Associate Professor for the Community, Environment and Policy Division of the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. She is recognized as a public health practitioner and involved in community based public health research and interventions on the U.S.-México border for several years. From 2000 to 2005, Dr. Rosales served the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) as Chief of the Office of Border Health, Division of Public Health Services.

She has received state and national recognition for her public health work. In 2004, Congressman Raul Grijalva recognized Dr. Rosales as a Local Legend: Changing the Face of Medicine. The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health recognized her as Alumnus of the Year in 2004. Most recently in 2005, the Arizona Mexico Commission awarded her the Andy Nichols award in recognition of her collaborative public health work carried out in the Arizona-Sonora border region.

Dr. Rosales earned a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the UoA, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health in 2000, and her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, School of Medicine in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México in 1987, and her bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the UoA in 1976.
