Dr. Octavio Martínez Pérez

Chihuahua Member

Dr. Octavio Martínez PérezDr. Octavio Martínez Pérez is the Secretary of Health for the State of Chihuahua.

His positions as a public server have included: Chief of Education, Assistant Chief of Pediatrics and Assistant Medical Director of the “Dr. Salvador Zubirán Anchando” General Hospital; Chief of Clinical Epidemiology in Civil Pensions of the State of Chihuahua; and General Director of the Health Institute of Chihuahua.

He has been a pediatrician in various hospitals, has served as coordinator for breastfeeding, respiratory infections and diarrheic diseases programs, in addition to giving doctrines in pediatrics, pediatric Infectology, growth and development.

He received his medical surgeon accoucher degree from the “Dr. Ignacio Chávez” School of Medicine of the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo in 1984. Subsequently, he completed his postgraduate studies at the 1o. de Octubre Hospital of the ISSSTE (Safety and Social Services Institute for State Workers) in México, D.F., specializing in Medical Pediatrics in 1988.

His academic performance has taken him to public and private universities including the School of Nursing of the Palmore Sanatorium and the Monterrey Technological Institute and of Superior Studies Chihuahua Campus. At the School of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, he has collaborated in the Medical Program for medical residency candidates.

Dr. Martínez Pérez is a member of the Program, Planning and Evaluation Committee of the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission.
