Dr. Abelardo García Cantú
Delegate for Dr. Villarreal Pérez Dr. Abelardo García Cantú is the Coordinator for the Nuevo León State Program for the Mexico Section of the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission.
Dr. García Cantú does anesthesiology work in institutional medicine, university education, private practice and altruist. He is a an active member of the Mexican Board of Anesthesiology, anesthesiology residency professor for the past 18 years in the San José Tec de Monterrey Hospital (HSJ / ITESM) and coordinator of the anesthesiology residency in the SSNL (Nuevo León Health Services) / HSJ ITESM multi-center since 2006.
Dr. García Cantú received his medical surgeon degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in 1976, accredited by the UNAM. He completed his rotatory residence as well as his residence in general anesthesia in the Civil Hospital of Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas and a Subspecialty in pediatric anesthesia at the National Institute of Pediatrics (DIF) in Mexico, D.F. He was the first pediatric anesthesiologist degreed in Monterrey, N.L.
His professional background includes: ex-president of the Anesthesiology Society of Monterrey, A.C.; organizer and participant as professor of local and national anesthesiology congresses; professor of the caudal epidural anesthesiology in pediatrics course/workshop on multiple occasions; coordinator of the SSNL Program for surgeries outside the town from 2004 to date; active member of national and foreign anesthesia societies; and active participant as well as organizer in multiple altruist health campaigns.
Dr. García Cantú is a member of the Priority Setting Committee and the Border Health Research Work Group of the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission.
